Sharing Ideas: door decorating contest
We started hearing rumors about a heated contest at Hermiston High School, and we simply couldn't wait for the results to come in before begging for photos.
Hermiston was a pilot site for Oregon College Application Week, so they've got a few years of practice hosting an event - and they've included a door decorating contest since the beginning. This morning, we got a report that one of their first year teachers was so impressed with the contest she couldn't stop talking about it. These photos show why. They've got lights! And interactive displays! And photos! There's no doubt that Hermiston High School is going all out. According to their CAW site coordinator, about 1/3 of their staff are participating, including teachers, administrators, and the lead custodian. They're showing off their alma maters and representing all sectors of higher education. We spy community colleges, four-year public universities, and four-year private colleges in Oregon and out-of-state. Color us impressed:
This contest isn't over! Doors are still being decorated, and the voting is in progress. At this moment, these two doors are neck-and-neck for first place. It appears this is the year of lights and interactive displays. Good luck to Mr. Zacharias and Mr. Berger. May the best door win!
